ISNCC is thrilled to announce that Stella Aguinaga Bialous, RN, MSc, DrPh, FAAN has been duly elected by the ISNCC Full Members to President of the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care (ISNCC) Board of Directors. Stella’s Presidential term will be October 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018, followed by a two year Immediate Past President role.
Stella is the President of Tobacco Policy International and has made outstanding contributions to international cancer nursing, specifically through her efforts in the arena of tobacco cessation. Stella has been actively involved in international educational, research, and policy initiatives to reduce tobacco use. Stella has been a strong leader for ISNCC, as Chair of the ISNCC Task Force on Tobacco Control and in leading the publication of the ISNCC Policy Statement on Tobacco Cessation. She has provided extensive mentorship to oncology nurses in Latin America connecting these nurses with ISNCC, and has led numerous international ISNCC workshops for oncology nurses, including Czech Republic, Poland, and China. Stella's leadership with ISNCC has resulted in the largest external grant received by the organization, a $350,000.00 2-year project to develop a Center of Excellence for Tobacco Cessation in Prague, Czech Republic. Further, many years ago Stella served as on the ISNCC Board of Directors, and in 2012 was the recipient of the ISNCC Distinguished Merit Award presented at the International Conference on Cancer Nursing. This award recognizes outstanding contribution to the international advancement of the science and art of cancer nursing.
